CHINA TRADE SEMINAR WITH THE EXPERTS
Wednesday,March 07,2007 Posted: 10:31 BJT(0231 GMT)  Commercial Office of Chinese Consulate in Auckland

Importers have made great profits trading with China by attending China’s largest trade fair each year but now Exporters have a chance to meet the demand for consumer products with the rising affluence of Chinese consumers. Mr. Liu Linlin, Economic and Commercial Counsellor, Embassy of the PRC in NZ said, “You may have heard the success stories and this seminar is an ideal opportunity for anyone interested in getting to know more about trading with China with those that have the greatest experience.”

A comprehensive Information Seminar about the 101st China Import & Export Fair, also known as the Canton Trade Fair, will be held Thursday, March 23 from 9am-11am at the Rendezvous Hotel in Auckland. A distinguished delegation from Guangzhou, lead by Mr Chen Chaoren, Deputy Director of China Foreign Trade Centre will discuss the fair and all that it has to offer traders. Mr. Pat English, China Market Manager, New Zealand Trade & Enterprise is the keynote speaker. Ms. Feng Chun, Official, Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China will join a panel of China trade experts; Mr. Alasdair Thompson, CEO of the EMA, Mr Jack Luo, Chair of the China Chamber of Commerce in NZ with Stuart Ferguson, Chair of NZ China Trade Association serving as MC. Experienced traders that have visited previous fairs will also give first hand knowledge to plan for a future visit.
The next session in April will be significant because it will be the first time that Importers have been invited to exhibit in the new International Pavillion. This can be an ideal introduction for New Zealand exporters that want to gain entry to the burgeoning China market adapting to the new circumstances of China’s opening up to the outside world, as well as meeting the need of development of China’s foreign trade balance. Exhibitors from all over the world will be welcome to launch products meeting the demand of Chinese market, such as hi-tech products that are beneficial for long-term development of the Chinese economy and optimisation of industrial structure, machinery and electronic products which are of complementary advantage with their counterparts in China, energy-conservation and environmental protection products and products from countries or regions which have trade deficits with China.

There is no entry charge but pre-registration is required. Pre-register to reserve a space and enquiries to China Chamber of Commerce in NZ, Jean Zhao at 09-375-1714 or e-mail: ticket9@chinatravel.co.nz prior to March 16, 2007.

The China Import & Export Fair has been held twice a year during the last two weeks in April and October for the past 50 years. Nearly 200,000 Traders from more than 200 countries attended the 100th session with 31,408 exhibitors displaying more than 150,000 products. The Official New Zealand Delegation was lead by COSCO General Manager Stuart Ferguson, Chairman of New Zealand China Trade Association and distinguished China trader, Mr. Victor Percival as Special Guest after having attended the first session in 1957.
